The Winner’s Curse: Marie Rutkoski
DNF on page 68.
I loved the cover and that’s why I honestly picked the book up from the library. The blurb sounded somewhat interesting and I tried to get into the story. On page 68, I just didn’t care for what was going on in the story. I was bored. The characters were on the dull side in my opinion. I didn’t like the main character, Kestrel. I did find the slave Arin a little interesting, but I felt no reason to even bother continuing. This book has a lot of rave reviews, but sadly I guess it just wasn’t for me. Don’t let this review hold you back, although, it might be interesting to you.
I was stressing over not finding any interest in this book because it seemed everyone over on Amazon, Goodreads, and every corner of the internet liked this book. But when I finally gave myself permission to set the book aside, I felt relieved. Yes, it was that boring and painful to me. My taste in books, of course, won’t always line up with those of everyone else.
