Synopsis: “In this sequel to Doon, Kenna Reid realizes she made a horrible mistake-choosing to follow her dreams of Broadway instead of staying in the enchanted land of Doon. Worse, she’s received proof she and Duncan are meant to be, along with torturous visions of the prince she left behind. So when Duncan shows up and informs Kenna that Doon needs her, she doesn’t need to think twice. But even if Kenna can save the enchanted kingdom, her happily ever after may still be in peril.”
Destined for Doon is a very unique story, the second in the Doon series, a YA retelling of Brigadoon. It follows the two girls, Mackenna and Veronica as they continue their adventures, romances, and yet again saving Doon from destruction.
Mackenna and Veronica are both young and still very naïve and rather immature in their ways. There were a few moments where I found myself a bit annoyed with them. I liked the different chapters of their perspectives. Mackenna’s were more interesting to me, although.
My weakness of Scottish men is burning anew. I loved both Duncan and Jaime. They were pretty well perfect in my humble opinion. Which makes me wonder what things would be like if they had their own chapters or something of that nature (a whole book, shh).
Overall, with that ending which I’m really confused about at the moment, I would give this book around three stars. I liked the story and wished I had my own Duncan or Jaime, but that’s about all I could honestly give it. I just wish there was a little something more.
